Peer Leaders serve as peer advisors, role models, and representatives of Tallahassee State College. Through formal training and hands-on experience, Peer Leaders develop valuable skills like organization, public speaking, adaptability, and more. Peer Leaders assist in various roles around campus, plan and execute Student Life events, and participate in community service.

Mission

The mission of the TSC Peer Leader Program is to provide a student leadership experience characterized by the enhancement of leadership skills in order to help connect other students to campus resources, by promoting service opportunities to enhance civic engagement, and by infusing scholarships to support higher academic achievement.

Goals and Strategies

Engage in leadership skill development by actively and purposefully committing to guiding and assisting any individual, group, organization, or community in meeting its goals.
Strengthen overall student engagement by utilizing Peer Leaders to aid in increasing the awareness of campus resources, services, and programs.   
Develop and participate in monthly service projects and collaborate with campus services and community organizations in and around Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties.
Promote civic-mindedness on the campus, locally, and beyond by providing opportunities to create and participate in appropriate settings.
Successfully connects intellectual, academic, and practical skills utilizing critical and reflective thinking to draw summations with effective reasoning and creative thought.

Benefits

TSC Peer Leaders may receive a scholarship for 60 credit hours or two years of tuition.

The program provides opportunities for students to:

Develop valuable skills in communication, leadership, and teamwork
Meet and network with a variety of people
Learn more about Tallahassee State College and share that with other students

Eligibility

Students apply to the program as incoming freshmen.

To be eligible to apply to the Peer Leader Program, students must:

Be an incoming freshman from a high school in Leon, Gadsden, or Wakulla counties
Have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
Obtain a letter of recommendation from a principal or guidance counselor

Program Requirements

If selected as a Peer Leader, you will be responsible for the following:

Maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher
Work five hours per week in your assigned office on campus
Attend weekly team meeting
Attend one event that you are not working each month
Plan and implement one (1) engagement hour each year
Attend all trainings and seminars that don’t interfere with your class schedule
Be open to volunteering for all leadership opportunities that may arise for you, including any conferences or retreats that you may qualify and apply for

2026 - 2027 Peer Leaders

	Cole Basford Cole Basford is from Tallahassee and is currently pursuing an Associate in Arts degree. While he is still deciding where he would like to transfer, he enjoys staying active and spending his free time playing disc golf and spikeball, as well as reading.
	Cami Coello Cami Coello is from Venezuela and is pursuing a degree in Chemistry, with plans to transfer to the University of Florida. She is currently learning Portuguese and has maintained a Duolingo streak of over 1,000 days. Cami also enjoys performing, helping others feel welcome and comfortable, and has a background in cheerleading.
	Michael Ebube Michael Ebube is originally from Nigeria and is pursuing a degree in Information Technology, with plans to transfer to Florida State University. He speaks three languages and enjoys swimming in his free time.
	Courtney Gibson Courtney Gibson is from Tallahassee, Florida, and is pursuing a degree in Nursing, with plans to transfer to Florida A&M University. She is a fraternal twin and enjoys giving back to her community through volunteering.
	Ashlyn Hamlin Ashlyn Hamlin is from Tallahassee, Florida, and is pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, with plans to transfer to Florida State University. She wrestled and played flag football throughout high school and continues to enjoy staying active. In her free time, Ashlyn enjoys wrestling, painting, going to the gym, and spending time with her two cats.
	Jazlyn Howell Jazlyn Howell is from Tampa, Florida, and is pursuing a degree in Dietetics, with plans to transfer to Florida State University. She has worked as a barista and hopes to pursue Culinary Nutrition in the future. Jazlyn enjoys ceramics and baking and would also love to try paddleboarding.
	Makinzy Jones Makinzy Jones is from Tallahassee and is pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy, with plans to transfer to Florida A&M University. She played volleyball for six years and enjoys trying different foods in her free time.
	Selena Palmer Selena Palmer is from Tallahassee, Florida, and is pursuing a degree in Crime Scene Investigation, with plans to transfer to Florida State University’s Panama City campus. She enjoys expressing her creativity through 3D art, including clay sculpture and glass mosaics. Her other interests include weightlifting and theatre.
	Kaliah Proctor Kaliah Proctor is from Gadsden County and is pursuing a degree in Nursing. After completing the Nursing program at Tallahassee State College, she plans to transfer to Florida A&M University to earn her bachelor’s degree. In her free time, Kaliah enjoys playing The Sims 4, reading, and listening to her favorite artist, Rod Wave.
	Esther Ramirez Esther Ramirez is from Tallahassee and is pursuing a degree in Art History. She is Puerto Rican and is currently undecided on where she plans to transfer. In her free time, Esther enjoys roller skating.
	Joshua Smith Joshua is a first-year student at TSC and a Tallahassee native. He is a guitarist and bassist who has a big love for music and enjoys being around people. While getting used to college life after high school took some adjusting, he has really enjoyed his time at TSC. Joshua is a very social person and loves being a Peer Leader. He enjoys the many opportunities the role gives him to meet new people and connect with students. He also loves being someone students can come to with questions, concerns, or even just to have a regular conversation.
	Nic Solomon Nic Solomon is from Tallahassee and is pursuing a degree in Business, with plans to transfer to Florida State University. He has practiced martial arts since he was six years old and would love to become skilled at cooking.
	Gabriella Swain Gabriella Swain was born in North Carolina and raised in Tallahassee. She is pursuing a degree in Speech-Language Pathology, with plans to transfer to Florida State University. Gabriella has a strong passion for the arts, including singing, fashion design, and customizing clothing. She also enjoys volleyball and has participated in the Tallahassee Community Chorus, and she hopes to explore color guard at FSU.
	Julymarie Torres Julymarie Torres is originally from Puerto Rico and is pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene. English is her second language, which she began learning at the age of nine. In her free time, she enjoys attending soccer games.
	Zicheng (Jason) Xu Zicheng (Jason) Xu is originally from China and is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, with plans to transfer to Florida State University. He has an interest in technical and engineering concepts and enjoys playing video games and reading in his free time.
